The mission of Mission Connexion Northwest (MCNW) is to mobilize the Body of Christ in the churches of the Pacific Northwest to serve the Lord on mission fields all over the world. That happens best when sending agencies are well led, not only by the leadership of the agency, but by an effective, Spirit-led Board of Directors. In 2014, MCNW is offering Board Governance ConneXion, a two-day workshop presented by Dave Coleman, President of BoardTrek, a non-profit board consulting group, and for 8 years program director for the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Having evaluated hundreds of non-profit organizations applying to the Murdock Trust for grants and written on the subject himself, Dave will lead the attendees through the exercises that make for best practices in governance.
Attendees at the first Board Governance ConneXion in 2013 had these comments: “I’ve been board chair since March this year, wish I’d had this training before I began.” One business entrepreneur with prior experience on numerous boards said: “A great presentation and examples for the smaller non-profits; Great 101/102 overview”. One business owner serving as chairman of a ministry group said: “I would highly recommend Dave to any board Chair who is wanting to bring more clarity to their board and organization. His format and process works.”
The Board Governance Connexion will begin Friday evening, November 7, at 6:30 pm and conclude by 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, November 8. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Board members of each agency attending will be seated together and have time to discuss their situations together. There will be plenty of Q&A time to explore direct application to specific board situations.
