“Mercy, inc. transforms communities sustainably, one family at a time. We do this through acts of compassion and the power of the Gospel, as we impart hope, dignity and self-worth.”

The Ladies Home Mission Group (LHMG) at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church of Summerville, PA. is full of compassion for many, especially those in Bangladesh, served by Mercy, inc.

Since 2013, LHMG regularly serves those with cancer, veterans, sick children, and those in need in foreign lands. Donna Richards, who leads the 15-member volunteer group, explains, “We make teddy bears, blankets for veterans, mastectomy pillows, and receiving blankets for newborns.”

They recently shipped a large order for 300 teddy bears and blankets for people in Bangladesh. Why do they do this on a volunteer basis? Richards says it best, “It is just so rewarding. We are the hands and feet of the Lord. It is a lot of work, and it isn’t. It is a labor of love.”

Jennie, a middle-aged Haitian woman, woke up one morning not feeling well. Her local hospital diagnosed her with typhoid, gave her some medicine, and sent her home. A few days later, she became even sicker, and her body began to swell. A friend told her she should go to Bethesda Clinic in Vaudreuil, even though it was far from her home.

Bikes are essential when you are discipling pastors of several church plants. Walking long distances steals time from working with these churches. Help give the gift of transportation this season! Donorbox.org/bikes4workers
